Video too dark?
If you're using Windows Media Player 10, our video (and possibly others) may appear a little darker than intended. This is the result of a hardware acceleration feature that is turned on by default. Here's how to disable it.

Right click at the bottom right of the player window to bring up the menus. Go to Tools | Options. Go to the Performance tab. Under Video Acceleration, click Advanced. Click the use high quality mode option. This should have the effect of turning off the use overlays option.

I have confirmed this issue with several videos on several machines, yet can't find any discussion of it on the web. If you have any insights, please let me know.
